Some Cartagena Home Page owners are paying Google (and other Search Engines) for brief LISTINGS with a LINK to their Home Page. Did you know there is a Cartagena five star hotel that is paying thousands of dollars for a LINK to their (poor) Home Page. What is this hotel doing to BRING VISITORS TO CARTAGENA? And why don't they invest only one hundred dollars a year with a Link from: CartagenaInfo? Another "five star" hotel purposely delayed paying the remaining fifty dollars that they admitted they owed us. Their "manager" made me wait and wait instead of paying. We canceled their Home Page with us and returned their money-all of it! She said to me: "James, why are you doing this, I have always been very nice to you". Can you believe that!? I have found an arrogant "management" attitude runs throughout many big companies here in Cartagena, and throughout Colombia. I am convinced that this "nice" person has lost thousands of dollars in hotel client bookings. I feel sorry for her employees. I deleted ALL MENTION of this hotel, even the mention in our Portal's free hotel listings.
This big hotel and more than twenty others belong to a Cartagena hotel association for which they pay about Pesos 2.000.000 dues per MONTH. What is this hotel association doing to BRING VISITORS TO CARTAGENA? In my opinion, going to annual Madrid or Miami travel agency party/conventions is a waste of time and money when compared with going DIRECT to one billion people on the Internet! The worlds airlines have gone direct to selling tickets on the Internet. Cartagena businesses must go direct to their customers-direct to the tourists. Go direct with the Internet!

One of the domains (the hotele domain) was formerly owned by this hotele association. Either they forgot to pay the annual domain fee, or someone (was, or is) stupid? |
PROMOTION- ARE WE CONSERVATIVE, IGNORANT OR JUST STUPID?

After the past seven years of working, living and enjoying this great city I have met, and become convinced that we have many intelligent, hard working, business leaders. However, I have found none who understand world-wide promotion on the Internet. Are we conservative, ignorant, or simply STUPID?
Why stupid? If we could just CHANGE, and invest a few hours with a good Search Engine, like Google, we could easily LEARN how to improve our business profits, AND help our Cartagena economy! |
