The
Church of the Holy Trinity was built following the plans of the Cathedral
and was completed in the second half of the 17th century. This church
was built at the beginning of the liberation movement of the Colony
of Cartagena, from Spain that lead the liberation of what was then known
as Gran Colombia, and now known as: Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru,
Bolivia and Panama.
The original structure has been modified through the years, preserving
little of its original architecture.
The
Regents of the Church, who also were also responsible for the Biffi
School, built a school in the back courtyard for the poverty stricken
youth of the community, which is still serving the poor today.
