The
Mallen’s Photo Galleries have been popular additions to www.cartagenainfo.net.
and a big help in promoting Cartagena to the world. During their legally
required 6 months visa departure from Colombia Roy, was kept busy responding
to loads of E-mail from other sail boaters, Ham radio operators, tourists,
Cartageneros, AND photographers.
Now Roy and
Liz Mallen are back in Cartagena, enjoying themselves, and taking pictures
of:

BUSSES ! ! !
You
read it right-busses. And with good reason. Busses are popular with Cartageneros
and tourists alike. Their routes go everywhere, and a normal wait to “catch
your bus” is usually no more than 4-5 minutes.
Cartagena
busses are unbelievably colorful. Each bus company has its own exterior
color scheme using as many as 5 different colors. When it comes to bus
interiors, each is totally different. Up front in the driver and dashboard
area is a cockamamie colorful mixture of: textures, mirrors, custom tinted
glass, swinging fuzzes, neon lights, sound systems, speakers, personal
family photographs, etc. |
Meet Roy and Liz Mallen of Florida, and Cartagena, Colombia.
The Mallen´s are bluewater sail boaters.
Liz is an experienced and dedicated First Mate.
Roy is a Ham radio (N4GJH) operator.
In common, they share a love for Cartagena, Colombia.
These photographs were taken during their second six month visa
in Cartagena. Their time has expired
and so in compliance with a Law, which shoots Colombia in the economic foot,
they will leave once again for Florida.
However, they will be back!
Maybe,
just maybe, the progressive government of President Uribe will have modernized
the Visa Law, and people, from other countries, who can prove financial responsibility
will be permitted to remain in Colombia indefinitely-as long as they obey the
countries laws?
Roy, in his modesty, is quick to call himself an amateur
photographer. It has been said
that the collective works of a photographer, reveals the heart and soul.
If this is so, Roy has laid open his deep love for this great and historic
city. These extensive Photo Galleries
are a gift to the people of Cartagena, from the Mallens.
You can send these E-Mail Postcard photographs to your
family and friends. Perhaps they will create some interest in visiting, investing,
having elective medical or dental surgery, or even retiring to this Romantic
City on the Caribbean. Like the
Mallen´s, your lives will be enriched, and never the same!
The Mallen´s Photo Galleries appear in five groupings.
The first we simply call: CARTAGENA.
It´s full of color, architecture, parks, flowers, fruit, people, romance,
street scenes, nautical and night photographs-something for everybody to enjoy-that´s:
CARTAGENA.
The
remaining four galleries relate to subjects that have appeared in many "coffee table books”: Doors,
Windows,
Balconies
and Door
Knockers.
