PROS:
Lots of lovely women
CONS:
Lots of street vendors
The
walled city of Cartagena is a lovely 500 year old place to relive
history and see fantastic Spanish architecture. It has a lovely
spot called Bocagrande which is the main part outside the historic
walled city. Laguito is the hot spot for beaches and outside
sidewalk cafes. The Colombian people are friendly and will treat
you well. I found GREAT DEALS on oceanfront properties and have
purchased some there, the process is very much like a purchase
in the USA. |

We stayed
in a hotel on the beach. It cost thirty American dollars and
it was a two bedroom one bathroom with a kitchen and living
area. The beach was beautiful and the town is so charming.
They have all kinds of artwork and old buildings. Later on
in the trip we went to Playa Blanca and it was the most beautiful
peaceful place I have ever been.

CARTAGENA IS FANTASTIC ALL THE WAY FROM: THE LAND, ARCHITECTURE,
MUSIC , FOOD, PEOPLE, AND OF COURSE THE BEACHES. I RECOMMEND
THIS EXOTIC CITY TO ALMOST ANYONE FROM ANY AGE AND OF ANY
CULTURE. YOU WILL DEFINITELY GET THE WHOLE PACKAGE DEAL GOING
TO CARTAGENA COLOMBIA. I LOVE GOING TO THIS CITY. I WAS RAISED
IN CANADA. BEEN GOING TO CARTAGENA FOR MANY YEARS NOW. I HAVE
NEVER HAD A BAD TIME. I LOVE GOING TO THE BEACHES, RESTAURANTS,
AND OF COURSE THE CLUBS.
THE PEOPLE
ARE VERY WELCOMING AND THE FOOD IS VERY GOOD WITH LOTS OF
FLAVOR. IF YOU GO TO CARTAGENA YOU WILL HAVE TO GO ON THE
CHIVA, WHICH IS A PARTY BUS THAT GIVES YOU THE TOUR OF THE
CITY. THE CHIVA ALSO INCLUDES FOOD AND DRINKS. IT'S GREAT.
IF YOU HAVE TIME IN COLOMBIA YOU SHOULD ALSO CHECK OUT SOME
NEAR BY CITIES SUCH AS BARRINQUILLA AND SANTA MARTA. I ALSO
THOUGHT THEY WERE GREAT PLACES TO GO TO. CARTAGENA IS A GEM,
VERY EXOTIC AND EXTRAORDINARY. CARTAGENA SHINES AND YOU WILL
NEVER FORGET YOUR EXPERIENCES THERE.

The city

of the best in South America!!!

I have to admit, I had some bad preconceptions about Colombia.
My wife, who is from Cartagena, begged me for two years before
I went. I think I wasted two years by not going. Now I go
once a year for about a month. The old part of Cartagena is
like a 16th century movie set. Old colonial buildings, and
a huge fort are not just museums, but living shops, houses,
and hotels. A definite step back in to time. The whole place
has atmosphere and old charm that is very rare in the Americas.
The best part is this city is a secret outside of South America.
There are very little foreigners from Europe and North America.
It's good because it keeps it very affordable. You can live
like a king for your whole vacation for what usually cost
staying a couple of days in Vegas. I love the night life,
the food, the history, and you must visit the islands. If
things were different in Colombia I'm sure Cartagena would
be a top tourist destination. Overall I would recommend anyone
to visit as long as they spoke some Spanish and didn't look
too much like a foreigner. If you fit in with a Latin population
you will have no problems at all, however if you stick out
like a sore thumb, you might get taken advantage of if you
leave the "tourist" areas. Over all I love going
to Cartagena, the icing on the cake was I met Bill Clinton
there a couple of years ago.

Cartagena
is one of the most wonderful cities, the contrast between
the old and the new city, the streets on the old city take
you to the past, the weather it's hot but you could work it
out, the food oh my good everything delicious you have to
try arroz con coco (coconut rice) it's delicious, in total
Cartagena it's a good value for the money you spent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love
Cartagena because of the people. The people are so rich with
love. I also like how the beaches offer live music and you
could also go into the great beaches. Boca Grande is beautiful.
I recommend people to go to Cartagena as a family and stay
into one of it's most luxurious hotel, Hilton Cartagena. It
offers everything in luxury. Cartagena is a one of a kind.

the only
thing i felt was a little off was the beaches need to be groomed
more. The people were very kind and helpful, and most of all
remember you are in another country, not at home! Cartagena
was far more secure than a lot of the other Caribbean destinations
I have been to. What a great place. And the very cheap taxi
rides to "Centro" were awesome and provided lots
of shopping and eating choices. And there is tons of culture
and history in the old city, a real treat!

I like
every thing about it.You should visit in the winter time in
the United States because there in South America it's their
summer time and the beaches are so pretty and clean you would
love to come back every year.

I loved
Cartagena, the problem is that the city is growing and there
is lots of construction making some parts of the city dirty.
